Hi Form 1, and welcome to your first History class at Elizabeth Moir Senior School.
I'm your teacher, Mr Griffith. I've been teaching History for about 14 years now, mostly in Australia, and in Sri Lanka since last year.
This resources blog is where you will find most of the information and links that you'll need to complete your homework and revision for exams.
I update it weekly, adding a short post for each class.
Each post will briefly outline what we will cover in class; provide a link to any PowerPoints, videos or documents; and describe the homework task for that week.
You can post comments to the posts if you have any questions, or wish to engage in a conversation with your classmates about the topic being learned.
You can subscribe to the blog if you like, that way you will receive updates when I post something new.
I look forward to meeting you and to teaching you this year!

A recent story about an interesting theory about why so many emperors were assassinated...
The Weird Reason Roman Emperors Were Assassinated
Week 1 Work:
This is the link for the PowerPoint we are using in class this week: goo.gl/7jbz7t
And this is the picture we are using in class and for our homework:
Homework:
Find a PRIMARY ancient Roman visual source (a photo of an artefact is best).
Make a list of 20 facts you can infer from the source - the same as we did in class with the dog mosaic.
Heading = Using Roman Sources

Heading = Using Roman Sources
Optional - extra task - for each fact, state whether it is a DIRECT inference that is shown in the source (e.g, 'Romans had black dogs') or an INDIRECT inference that is not sown but you can deduce from the evidence (e.g. 'there was crime in ancient Rome'). Simply write DIRECT or INDIRECT after each fact.

Sir This is Trevin Form 1 in group B, do we have to type it or write it in our books
ReplyDeleteWrite it in your books please - make sure you leave an empty page in your books for a cover page first.
DeleteSir, this is Louisa
ReplyDeleteForm 1 Group A
I was wondering if it would be alright if I did 2 sources,
or should I stick to doing one?
If you have time left over in your 45 minutes HW, then by all means - it's great practise!
DeleteHi Sir, this is Maria again (Form 1 Group B) and I was wondering if we could mention what the artefact actually is after we finish writing the 20 things. Because, I'm doing a building and I was thinking wether I could write like a paragraph on the real reason why it was built and stuff.
ReplyDeleteOf course, state what the artefact is and if you want to add some extra information for context, that would be great.
DeleteHi sir this is Amaya(Form 1 Group B ) and I was wondering if we could DRAW an artefact instead/as well.
DeleteOf course - as long as it is Roman
DeleteSir said we could draw it or print a picture or literally anything
