STOP PRESS:
I told you all that the midterm will be on Wednesday next week. It will actually be on MONDAY. I'm sorry for the mixup but we have to sit the exam the same time as Mr Shearer's class. There will also be a separate, one-word answer test held concurrent with the exam, which shouldn't take long. I'll explain it all in Wednesday's lesson.
Hi Form 4...five weeks down, only two to go before half term!
The next few lessons will look like this:
Monday Week 6 - class debates on the causes of the Cold War will be run. The debates will be fairly quick and everyone will get to speak or participate in some way. If you're not a speaker, your work within the team and on writing down facts/arguments will be important. I will be assigning some informal marks for participation in this debate, as part of your overall class grade. The aim of the activity is not to test our debating skills, so much as to compare the arguments for who was to blame for the Cold War.
Notes from the debates: https://goo.gl/qMd2LP
Well done to the Proposition for winning debate 1, and the Opposition for winning debate 2.
Wednesday Week 6 - we will look at the Berlin Blockade, the PowerPoint is available here: goo.gl/6Zo4D4
Your essay on the causes of the Cold War is due at the end of the lesson, this will give me time to mark it before Monday so that you can take the feedback on board.
The essay is scaffolded in your booklets, or you can find the worksheet here: goo.gl/FRrfK4
Notes for the midterm will be distributed.
Your homework this week will of course be to revise for the midterm exam.
Monday Week 7 - we will complete our analysis of the first five years or so of the Cold War, discuss the essay feedback and continue our revision of key concepts.
Wednesday Week 7 - midterm exam. I'll give you more information on the structure and content in class tomorrow.
