WOTD: Crusade - military expedition in the name of Christianity (usually to recover important cities in the Holy Land)
WOTD: Holy Land - area of the Middle East where the main Christian holy sites were located - modern Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria
OTD: January 8 1198 - Innocent III became Pope (he instigated the Fourth Crusade - see his biography here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Innocent_III)
